Sonia Roitman, Ph.D: An Associate Professor at the University of Queensland. Sonia’s research areas include urban inequality, housing, and informality. She examines the dynamics of informal settlements and the implications for urban policy, offering critical perspectives on inclusive planning practices.

Dr. Sumie Nakayama: An Associate Professor at Kyoto University. Sumie specialises in urban planning and disaster risk management. Her research focuses on community resilience and the role of local practices in disaster preparedness and recovery. Her expertise aligns with the conference’s emphasis on adaptive infrastructure and community participation.

Butet Manurung: A pioneering educator and anthropologist. Butet is renowned for her work with indigenous communities in Indonesia. She founded Sokola Rimba, an organisation providing education to remote forest communities, emphasising the integration of local wisdom into educational practices. Her insights into community-driven approaches offer valuable perspectives on harmonising formal and informal planning methods.

Ismu Rini Dwi Ari, Ph.D: A Associated professor at Universitas Brawijaya. Dr. Ari’s research encompasses social capital, community development, and infrastructure planning. Her work on participatory approaches in water management and rural development provides practical insights into integrating formal policies with community initiatives.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Asrul Mahjuddin: Associate Professor Dr. Asrul Mahjuddin Ressang Aminuddin is a member of the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Built Environment, Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. He has several expertise in the field of sustainable architecture, namely with a focus on topics such as green buildings, sustainable architecture, and the built environment. Dr. Asrul has published 17 publications which have been cited 126 times which shows his very significant contribution to architectural and sustainability research.
